This morning, renowned Bollywood actor and Shiv Sena leader, Govinda, accidentally shot himself in the leg while handling his licensed revolver at home. The incident occurred around 4:45 a.m. as he was preparing to leave for the airport to catch an early morning flight to Kolkata.

The 60-year-old actor was immediately rushed to Criticare Hospital, located near his residence in Juhu, Mumbai. He sustained a bullet wound just below his knee and was quickly admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). After an hour-longsurgery, doctors successfully removed the bullet. Though Govinda is expected to stay in the hospital for a few days, his condition is stable, and doctors believe he will make a full recovery.

According to his manager, Shashi Sinha, the accident happened as he was putting his revolver into a cupboard when it accidentally slipped and went off. At the time, the actor was alone at home since his wife, Sunita Ahuja, was in Kolkata. Upon hearing the news, Sunita immediately flew back to Mumbai to be with her husband.

Govinda’s manager shared that they had a flight scheduled for 6 a.m. for a show in Kolkata. “We were all set to leave when this accident happened. Thankfully, by God’s grace, Govinda ji only sustained a minor injuryto his leg, and it wasn’t more serious,” he said.

Govinda released an audio message from the hospital, thanking his fans for their prayers and the doctors for their quick work. “”A bullet struck me, but it has since been removed, and I’m recovering. I truly believe your prayers and blessings have protected me,” he said.

The actor’s doctor, Dr. Ramesh Agarwal, confirmed that he would likely be discharged within three to four days but would need about a month of rest to fully recover. His brother Kirti Kumar and daughter Tina Ahuja were among the family members who stopped by the hospital to see how he was doing. he’s nephew, Vinay Anand, also shared that Govinda was in good spirits, even joking that divine intervention had saved him.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde personally called himto wish him a speedy recovery, assuring him that the state government would provide any support needed during this challenging time.

The police have seized Govinda’s weapon and launched an investigation into the incident. Although the actor has not filed a formal complaint, security has been tightened around the hospital as a precaution.
